CONDOMS AND SANITARY PADS DEBATE IN CONCLUSION

Ever since I can remember, menstruation has been a topic that has not been a subject of discussion that people have had in public. It has not been one of the breakfast, lunch or dinner discussions.
Not even have I heard a husband asking a wife ‘how is your period today?’

Menstruation has been and still is an issue that has been discussed in private mostly by females. Fathers might be involved at some point, but this rarely happens.

Males and females’ communication concerning menstruation have been through symbolism, gestures and simply guess work. A male has to read the signs and break through the jigsaw puzzle to know that a woman is going through her menstruation.

Lately, the menstruation silence code has been broken, and it is now a topic of discussion in public. Not that everyone is comfortable talking about it, or sees the relevance in having a conversation about menstruation but the discussion seems to be going on.

The facilities in prisons were also found not to friendly to women and girls.

‘During menstruation we improvise! We use Chitenje mostly, or whatever we can use at that time’-Said one of the prisoners

These problems have made people call for the improvement of Sanitation facilities and infrastructure, especially in public places. They have also been calls for addressing myths and misconceptions around menstruation. Recently the calls have been for free sanitary pads in public facilities like schools, prisons, and shelters.

It remains unclear on whether the free pads have to be for everyone, or they apply to the people that cannot afford to access pads due to financial problems.

In the midst of a solid campaign for free sanitary pads, another movement calling for the government to replace free condoms with free pads seems to be gaining ground.

‘’Condoms should be sold, Sanitary pads should be given for free. Sex is a choice; menstruation is not.’

This sounds rather catchy, but makes me ask, why do we have free condom system almost globally.

If memory serves me well, I remember that free condoms were introduced among things to address HIV prevalence, and teen pregnancies that also have an impact on school drop out of the same girls. Would then, the introduction of a cost on free condoms address cases of girls drop-out in schools? Condoms were also introduced to protect women and girls from catching STDs and HIV/AIDS. What happens when a cost is added to free condoms?

I believe that condoms and pads are all critical issues that need to be given their due attention due to the reasons made earlier. It is not a case of either free Pads or free condoms. It is a case of both free pads and free condoms. In fact, free condoms and free pads are complementary for the safety and education of girls and women. Therefore, condoms should remain free, and sanitary pads should also be free.

LALA NGOKUTHULA DANIEL DOUBT (DADDY D)

Speak of me as you have always done.

Remember the good times, laughter, and fun.

Share the happy memories we've made.
Do not let them wither or fade.

I'll be with you in the summer's sun
And when the winter's chill has come.

I'll be the voice that whispers in the breeze.
I'm peaceful now, put your mind at ease.

I've rested my eyes and gone to sleep,
But memories we've shared are yours to keep.

Sometimes our final days may be a test,
But remember me when I was at my best.

Although things may not be the same,
Don't be afraid to use my name.

Let your sorrow last for just a while.
Comfort each other and try to smile.

I've lived a life filled with joy and fun.
Live on now, make me proud of what you'll become.

R.I.P DOUBT WE WILL MISS YOU

REST IN PEACE DANIEL DOUBT ( DADDY D)

When great trees fall,
rocks on distant hills shudder,
lions hunker down
in tall grasses,
and even elephants
lumber after safety.

When great trees fall
in forests,
small things recoil into silence,
their senses
eroded beyond fear.

When great souls die,
the air around us becomes
light, rare, sterile.
We breathe, briefly.
Our eyes, briefly,
see with
a hurtful clarity.
Our memory, suddenly sharpened,
examines,
gnaws on kind words
unsaid,
promised walks
never taken.

Great souls die and
our reality, bound to
them, takes leave of us.
Our souls,
dependent upon their
nurture,
now shrink, wizened.
Our minds, formed
and informed by their
radiance,
fall away.
We are not so much maddened
as reduced to the unutterable ignorance
of dark, cold
caves.

And when great souls die,
after a period peace blooms,
slowly and always
irregularly. Spaces fill
with a kind of
soothing electric vibration.
Our senses, restored, never
to be the same, whisper to us.
They existed. They existed.
We can be. Be and be
better. For they existed.

NINE DAY MARATHON IN GOD'S ARMS DAY 5

NINE DAY MARATHON IN GOD'S ARMS

DAY 5

Forgive Me Father

I steal from you,

Even when you offer to give,

Wholeheartedly to your son,

I grab it with force from your hands,

I'm not even grateful for all you do to me.

My tongue is sour and bitter,

My saliva has turned acidic and bile,

Anything coming from my mouth is lethal,

I spit venom and vomit toxic words from my lips,

I'm always rattling and complaining of my life.

When I kneel down to pray,

No appreciation cross my mind,

Like a hornbill I sing my problems,

Words forming lines that make stanzas,

I later create beats to make my problems seem big.

I never mention your goodness,

The love you had for me to send your Son,

Jesus Christ to take the cross for my sins,

He was painted dirt and later crucified alive,

I've failed to express and share this kind of love.

Despite of all my unkindness,

I have never gone without food and water,

I wake up every morning despite my sinful ways,

Forgive Me Father for I have sinned before You,

I detest all my sins and ask for your forgiveness.

INSIDE THE BEDROOM LEONTEN & YVONNE BROWN

At night you always finds your way into my heart

I'm astonished how you even do that

At times I ask

Is it because it's dark

Nor is it because I love her

You always gave me these goose bumps and left my heart melting

You so hot dressed in your mini skirts babe

Do you know, its how you make me feel

Or you not even aware my love?

A handsome lit peeps

Hugging the reflection of light

I'm yearning and whispering

Words of ecstasy

Oh, so you doing it intentionally

How clever of you

A bird building nest with other bird's furthers

Tell me you know all that you getting me into

I pity you if you fail

I might take another another one to replace you

So show me what you got up the sleeves hny

No honey,

Don't bring someone to replace me

Oh just yell my

absence,

Tonight I want to visit the moon just to tell it about you

Coz me and you

You were meant to glow in this world

Menstruation?

Oh what a mess

Everyday excuses

When will the Christmas day arrive

I'm getting bored of this your little bulshit

Do you think it is food that quenches my thirsty

Leave to see what will happen next

Continue if you like

I'm off to bed

And take your little junky food off my sight

You just made my empty  stomach full...

Darling,

You have to forgive me on that,

I always wish to please and make you

Happier in bed,

But I fail because

This thing is meant to happen

I can't stop it,

I'm so sorry honey

When was your last serving me

It's like decades ago as far as I remember

I'm loaded inside

And you are never a man to understand what I feel

I'm like someone having a running stomach

I can't stop it too

So I'm going somewhere to fix myself

Stay behind , and don't follow me

Because my bygone craving is killing me

Goodbye

This is what you wanted , for you knew it .

Fully knowing that man needs woman to survive...

Poem By Ambassador Zenzo Siziba ( My City Bulawayo)

My city, my town

The day u were birthed

No one regretted

My City

The glory of both the young and old

a site for everyone to behold

My city

A place of great edifices

a town with wonderful places

Four and two-legged machines

Fills this land unconditionally

A place of constant influx

Beautiful lush green grass

Filled the lawns at every corner

Bridges everywhere

as long as monumental caterpillars

Masts of every network

as tall as the Eiffel Tower of Paris,

A total amazement..

My city,

A beauty to uphold,

Now a story yet untold

My city, oh my town

You are losing your luster,

colour and radiance

That made humans of all race

want to advance, to seek solace

My city, My town

The land that brought memories

of neighborliness,

Everyone, together as of same parents

Awake from your slumber

Oh my great city, 'The Garden-City'

The crown princess of Rivers state

Why do you constantly hibernate?

Wake up

My city, my town,

Be like David,

Defeat this Goliath called GREED!

Show your feat

and make this enemy face the heatpoem

Wanda The Poet with a poem titled (WIPE OUT YOUR TEARS)

God who makes impossible possible,

He who made everything from nothing,

From a word of mouth things came to be,

Lion whose roar shakes strong walls,

Yahweh! Ebenezer! El-Shaddai never disappoint.

His voice is penetrating the air,

Great promises and revelation,

You are coming from afar and going far,

The thorns you've stepped on won't matter,

Just believe and shout a big 'Amen'.

Your name will open great doors,

Good news will locate your residence,

Because it's God the Almighty,

Who's writing your life story,

All these will be fulfilled as you still live.

The big posters you admire today,

Tomorrow you are the one to be admired,

Your life will never be the same again,

You will be on round table with big titles,

Bodyguards will walk beside you.

You'll rise from grass to grace,

From formless zero to a hero,

Your tears will be turned into joy,

Because you deserve the best,

Your jar will forever be full and never dry.

Battle Of Pain with Hope ( A story about UWASE OLGA BLESSING)

What is life?

What's the meaning of life?

Sometimes I fail to find answers,

Life full with struggle, pain and love,

Joy and many things encompasses.

We do not make life but rather it makes us,

We have no power to change some things,

We have to sit and watch them unfold,

Whether hard and painful,

But we have no choice.

Children are source of blessings,

The love bond that connects,

Streams of joy to a family,

Bring calmness,

And peace.

Uwase Olga Blessing was beautiful,

An adorable and intelligent girl,

Born charming and strong,

Grew up like any child,

This was nice.

Olga started her schooling with great hopes,

Competed like a tiger in class,

Till one time she felt a stomach pain.......
